Arrival day
Mas Clot d'en Guardia, our comfortable Catalan farmhouse is nestled in the chestnut and oak forest of the Haut Vallespir in the Pyrenees Orientales. Once we arrive you will have time to settle in, set up your bike and have a short shake down before enjoying a home-cooked meal as a group. A comfortable bed awaits before embarking on the first full day of adventure!
Day 1 - 74km
After a hearty breakfast of warm pastries and fresh eggs from our own hens, we will follow the car-free voie verte (green way) to the Mediterranean coast, descending over 350m to Argeles-sur-Mer before a short climb over the coastal road to the stunning seaside town of Banyuls-sur-Mer, birthplace of 20th century sculptor Maillol and the fortified wine Banyuls.
Day 2 - 52km
Today we take to the road and cross the border into Spain. Winding south on stunning northern Costa Brava through the towns of Portbou, Colera and Llanca before cutting inland slightly to catch the flat, fast tarmac to the bustling seaside town of Roses.
Day 3 - 62km
Back on the bikes we continue to ride south, taking in the ruins of an Ancient Greek port in Empuries. The rugged pine-covered cliffs of Tamariu will welcome us for our penultimate night.
Day 4 - 48km
The final day, we head inland through apple orchards to finish in the Catalan city of cycling, Girona.
